We offer dancing lessons for singles, couples or groups.

At the Arthur Murray Dance School of Victoria, students are taught the basic patterns of the most popular dances through our Introductory Program.  Having the fundamental foundation will allow for further advancement into the Medalist Programs, which include Bronze, Silver, Gold, Gold Bar and Gold Star levels.  The Medalist System is used worldwide. The degree of dancing one achieves varies depending on their needs, desires, goals, commitment and interest. If competitive dancing is someone’s desire, they can enroll into our Advanced Training Programs that will teach the latest techniques and styles.  The Victoria Arthur Murray Dance School has trained some of the top competitors. Our goal is to help everyone fulfill their desire, whether it is to become a great social dancer or competitor.

Private Lessons
During the one-on-one private lessons, each student will receive personalized instruction by our carefully selected and trained instructors to help them achieve their dancing goals. The teacher will spend time necessary on techniques, steps and style, closely following the personalized lesson plans.

Group Lessons
Group lessons are crucial part of the program. Students are encouraged to strengthen their muscle memory, develop their balance and dance with various partners that will make them stronger dancers. In Group Lessons we put emphasis on various dance patterns, style and technique.

Supervised Practices
Supervised practices are held twice a week and they are great fun, just like an evening out in a club.  This is the place students will put into use what they learned during the private and group lessons with the supervision of the instructors.  Attend as many as possible and improvement of your dancing will be at a much faster rate.

We recognize that each student has different goals, learning styles, and schedules. With a personally tailored designer dance program, the degree of dancing achieved varies depending on the desires, objectives, commitment and interest of each student. No matter what level of dance the student achieves, they will always have a skill that can be used for a lifetime.

When joining our Victoria Arthur Murray dance family, students are introduced to our Medalist Standards. Our curriculum is designed to teach you in logical order, from easiest to more difficult, with each level consisting of the building blocks for the level above. We even provide progress checks to make sure you can see your measurable improvement. Our interrelated system of teaching ensures that you will learn what you want to learn quickly and efficiently.

The Introductory Level of dancing is designed to familiarize you with the most fundamental skills needed for partner dancing. You will learn about communication, poise & posture, basic timing, and basic patterns.

At the Foundation Level, students will learn the basics in several dances while focusing on refining their understanding of the fundamentals, like dance hold, partnering skills, timings and patterns. By the end of your foundation, most students have a much clearer idea of what they wish to achieve during the course of their dance education.

The Bronze level of ballroom dancing is the social standard. It can be equated to earning your High School Diploma in Dance. Bronze dancers are confident in their abilities and blend easily into any social dance situation. They are never lacking for a partner. At the higher levels of Bronze, dancers will be more polished, and may even garner the attention of onlookers. The Victoria Arthur Murray Dance School’s Bronze Program is broken down into four levels:

Beginners Bronze
In this level you will learn the basic patterns necessary to get by in any social dancing situation. You will learn the basic rhythm and step for the dances, as well as a get out of trouble step and a few turns and variations. This level is still considered a foundational level in your dancing, as you solidify your knowledge of basic skills.

Associate Bronze
At the Associate Bronze level, you will work on new variations, polishing the skills and patterns you learned in your Beginning Bronze, as well as increasing your ability to maneuver around a crowded dance floor. The Associate Bronze Graduate would be considered your average social dancer.

Advanced Bronze
In this level, you will notice that your comfort on the dance floor increases dramatically. You are learning how to dance in smaller spaces, use tighter turns, maneuver even more adeptly, and work with the rhythm of the music. Most students find that this level is a little bit like the first time you drove your car on the highway—exhilarating and exciting!

Full Bronze
At the Full Bronze level, you will continue to polish all of the skills and techniques you have been learning, as well as increasing your flexibility on the dance floor. You will learn to add a new degree of smoothness and continuity to your dancing as well as new ways to quickly change direction. Students who achieve this level of dance are considered to be exceptional social dancers!

The Silver level of dancing is the equivalent of a Bachelors Degree in Dance. Students who typically continue to Silver take their dancing seriously and want to become more refined than most social dancers. At a night club, the Silver level dancer will feel totally at ease and in control and will often clear the floor when they let their skills fly.

The Gold level of dancing is like getting your Doctorate Degree in Dance. Gold level dancers are hobbyist dancers who love to learn and love to dance. Many Gold level dancers have chosen to pursue their ballroom dance education as a lifelong hobby.
